You will sail from the beautiful heart of the city of Weesp to the Muiderslot in Muiden. At this textbook example of a medieval castle, there is much to see and experience. There is an informative guided tour and in addition you can explore the castle on your own and wander through the gardens and along the ramparts. There are also frequent demonstrations, such as knight fighting and a falconer with birds of prey.
The beautiful saloon boat that will take you to the Muiderslot will give you an opportunity to catch up in a pleasant atmosphere. What makes your visit extra special is that you moor at the lock’s private jetty. At the end of your visit to the castle, you will also board the train there again.
Who doesn’t know the Muiderslot? It has stood at the mouth of the Vecht for some 700 years. One of its most famous residents was Floris V, the nobleman who got along so well with the citizens and was killed by other nobles in 1296. Some four centuries later, the castle was the summer residence of P.C. Hooft, who invited literary friends, scientists and musicians there. That company later became known as the Muider Circle.
