Sailing down the Amstel from Uithoorn, our salon boats Adeline and Dame van Amstel successively pass the beautiful towns of Nes aan de Amstel and Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. In Ouderkerk, home to the Heeren van Amstel in the Middle Ages, there are a number of fine restaurants, all located on the Amstel River. Sailing toward Amsterdam, with its canals and beautiful downtown, we finally arrive at the IJ River.
he Amstel River runs right through Amsterdam. Along the Amstel River, with beautiful bridges like the Berlage Bridge and the Skinny Bridge, we find famous buildings like the theater Carré, the Stopera and the Amstel Hotel. Four of our salon boats can cruise the Amstel: the Adeline, the Dame van Amstel, the Belle van Zuylen and the Emma.
Near Uithoorn, the Amstel splits into the Komme Mijdrecht and the Drecht. The Kromme Mijdrecht, in particular, with its naturally meandering course, is a beautiful stretch to navigate. Along the Amstel we find a number of old forts that were part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Today, because of the constant temperature and humidity, a number of wine tasting rooms are located there.
Home port of our salon boat Dame van Amstel is Uithoorn. Of course, you can also board in other places along the Amstel River, such as Nes aan de Amstel, Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, and in Amsterdam. Many of our guests choose to hop on and off at one of the many restaurants located along the Amstel River.
