Will you (finally) sail again?
Now that we may come together again and meet physically, it is time for real contact. A sailing ship provides the ideal environment to come together again: plenty of outdoor space, fresh air and action.
So will you be sailing with us again? Over the past period, we have made every effort to further improve service for our customers. Our lemsteraak Grote Jager has undergone a makeover where everything has been given a fresh coat of paint. We can’t wait to raise the sails with you!
New wines
As wine lovers, we are always looking for the best wines for our guests (and a little for ourselves). Thus, we were finally able to travel again to our suppliers in Spain. Here we found a surprisingly attractive white Rioja. We didn’t hesitate for a moment and crowned this one our new white house wine. It is a supple, pleasant and drinkable wine with vegetal aromas; is further somewhat floral and you also smell something of white fruit like peach. In the aftertaste, we detect some fresh apple. The grapes were gently pressed, then the juice was cooled in stainless steel tanks for fermentation.
Producer
Aradon is an ancient Spanish city that mysteriously disappeared in Roman times (first and second centuries). The vineyards of Bodegas Aradón are located near the town of Alcanadre, about 30 kilometers east of Logroño. These vineyards are selected parcels of the Cooperativa Vinicola de Alcanadre. The young winemaker Cristina Alesanco wants to demonstrate with her wines that it is possible to produce excellent wines in Rioja Baja. Before Cristina became responsible for Bodegas Aradón in 2009, she studied oenology in France and gained experience in Rioja and Ribera del Duero. The Aradón vineyards lie on a plateau, some 500 meters above sea level, and benefit from the Cierzo, the fresh dry wind from the northwest. The soil consists of lime and clay and, in certain plots, rolling boulders.
Of particular note is a project started in 2012 in which the ripeness of the grapes, and thus the time of harvest, is determined in part from satellite images. Meanwhile, we have also included a red Rioja Momento on our wine list.
